Cornelius Pickleball Programs

Lake Norman Pickleball Association is excited to partner with Cornelius Parks and Recreation to provide educational clinics. We will be offering clinics in multi-week series that will build on different skills each week. We will also be offering one-day clinics targeted to one specific skill. Clinics will be based on skill level. Signing up for the correct skill level helps both you and the instructional group get the most from the lesson. Please see the current clinic offerings below.

LKNPA does not want financial hardship to be a barrier to participation. We offer a scholarship program for those that meet qualifying criteria. If you feel you may qualify, email Dave Mancuso (dave.lknpickleball@gmail.com) for more information.

LKNPA members need to login prior to registering to receive member discount. If you are not a member, but would like to join to receive clinic discounts and other benefits, please click the Join tab above for more information.

Please join the Lake Norman Pickleball Association (LKNPA) as we welcome those interested in learning about the fastest growing sport in the country that has a weird name but is loads of fun… PICKLEBALL! For only $10, you can see why everyone is talking and enjoying this sport that is enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. People aged 4-100 are taking over courts throughout the nation, meeting new people and getting some exercise while doing so!

The LKNPA is proud to host a smaller, beginners only, “Introduction to PICKLEBALL” at the TORRENCE CHAPEL PARK COURTS. The first hour will be spent learning all about the sport, paddle, court, ball and why everyone is loving and talking about pickleball! Time will be spent introducing the basic shots, rules, and game play. Then, at 6pm, the fun continues when the courts open up to other LKNPA members that already know the basic rules of the game.

Please try and bring your own paddle. Dick’s Sporting Goods in Birkdale Village and Academy Sports in Mooresville have a healthy selection of paddles and there is always Amazon. You might already be wondering… “which paddle is for you?” Do not stress over that until you get a good grasp of the game and then you will understand what you want in a paddle.

If the courts are too wet at 4pm the day of the clinic, I will send an email out and the clinic will be postponed to next Friday

Looking for an alternative activity for lunchtime? Why not get outside and improve your pickleball skills? These midday clinics will be limited to a small group of four players for an hour of focused skill building.

This clinic will focus on getting to the kitchen line as a team and under control. It usually doesn't happen on the 3rd shot. This lesson focuses on patience and using a 5th or 7th to get to the kitchen.

Looking for an alternative activity for lunchtime? Why not get outside and improve your pickleball skills? These midday clinics will be limited to a small group of four players for an hour of focused skill building.

This unique session is brought to you by popular demand.  Many players have asked "What am I doing wrong" when playing in a game-setting.  During this one-hour session, the instructor will observe live game action.  The instructor will stop play to provide real-time feedback on player positioning, hitting mechanics, strategy, and communication.  Many players have found this to be the most helpful approach to improving their game.

Participants will also receive an assessment of their skill level and skills they need to improve upon to reach the next skill level.

This clinic will focus on what most pros will say is the most important shot in pickleball.  Once mastered, the  drop is a game changer and is what will help you move your game to the next level. Attendees will learn why this shot is so important, when to use it, how to execute it, and will be given drills to use to refine your drop shot.
