Cornelius Pickleball Programs

Lake Norman Pickleball Association is excited to partner with Cornelius Parks and Recreation to provide educational clinics. We will be offering clinics in multi-week series that will build on different skills each week. We will also be offering one-day clinics targeted to one specific skill. Clinics will be based on skill level. Signing up for the correct skill level helps both you and the instructional group get the most from the lesson. Please see the current clinic offerings below.

LKNPA does not want financial hardship to be a barrier to participation. We offer a scholarship program for those that meet qualifying criteria. If you feel you may qualify, email Dave Mancuso (dave.lknpickleball@gmail.com) for more information.

LKNPA members need to login prior to registering to receive member discount. If you are not a member, but would like to join to receive clinic discounts and other benefits, please click the Join tab above for more information.

Looking for an alternative activity for lunchtime? Why not get outside and improve your pickleball skills? These midday clinics will be limited to a small group of four players for an hour of focused skill building.

Due to the advanced nature of this session, only advanced beginners and intermediate players should attend.  Lobs can be frustrating when used against us but very effective when used against an opponent.  We will cover when and how to use lobs including proper technique and placement as well as how to defend against lobs.

If you learn nothing else about pickleball, learn the "Three P's" - patience, placement, and positioning.  Mastering these three dimensions of pickleball will elevate your game and help you enjoy pickleball the way it is meant to be played.

This clinic will focus on using proper technique with both your forehand and backhand  ground strokes. This is an important part of the game to develop for when your opponent keeps you pinned at the baseline.  Jeff will also teach some drills you can use on your own for more practice.

As you play higher level pickleball, the kitchen isn't only for dinking. This clinic will focus on purposeful changes of pace up close at the NVZ line.

This clinic will focus on the first two shots of every point.  While sometimes taken for granted, effective serves and returns can provide you with a competitive advantage.  Attendees will learn why good serves and return of serves will set them up for success.  Your instructor will cover different types of serves and returns and the best spot on the court to place these important shots.

This unique session is brought to you by popular demand.  Many players have asked "What am I doing wrong" when playing in a game-setting.  During this one-hour session, the instructor will observe live game action.  The instructor will stop play to provide real-time feedback on player positioning, hitting mechanics, strategy, and communication.  Many players have found this to be the most helpful approach to improving their game.

Please join the Lake Norman Pickleball Association (LKNPA) as we welcome those interested in learning about the fastest growing sport in the country that has a weird name but is loads of fun… PICKLEBALL! For only $10, you can see why everyone is talking and enjoying this sport that is enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. People aged 4-100 are taking over courts throughout the nation, meeting new people and getting some exercise while doing so!

The LKNPA is proud to host a beginners only, “Introduction to PICKLEBALL”, typically on the first Sunday of every month starting at 5pm at the TORRENCE CHAPEL PARK COURTS. The first hour being spent learning all about the sport, paddle, court, ball and why everyone is loving and talking about pickleball! Time will be spent introducing the basic shots, rules and game play. Then at 6pm, the fun continues when the courts open up to other beginners that already know the basic rules of the game.

Please try and bring your own paddle. Dick’s Sporting Goods in Birkdale Village and Academy Sports in Mooresville have a healthy selection of paddles and there is always Amazon. You might already be wondering… “which paddle is for you?” Do not stress over that until you get a good grasp of the game and then you will understand what you want in a paddle.

If the courts are too wet at 4pm the day of the clinic, I will send an email out and the clinic will be postponed to next Sunday. Hope it doesn’t rain.
